Updated Policies and Procedures

Following requests from members of the approved delivery network we have now provided our policies and procedures in an easy to download format available through the SFEDI Awards website

Make sure you have the latest versions by clicking here

Certificate Checker

Don’t forget that the SFEDI Awards website features a handy certificate checker available to centres, learners and their employers.

We are proud of the hard work those undertaking our qualifications complete to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in enterprise and business support and, as a result, it is important that they are recognised for this and the authenticity of any claims to hold a SFEDI Awards certificate are accurate.

The Certificate Checker provides the ability to check the authenticity and accuracy of certificates by simply entering the certificate number as it appears on the certificate that has been presented on achievement of the qualification.

If the certificate is authentic the searcher will be presented with the name of the person and the course they undertook with SFEDI Awards.

Access the Certificate Checker by clicking here

Think Enterprise Magazine

We have partnered with our colleagues from the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs to promote the positive impact of enterprise skills education and the good work that entrepreneurs are doing in running their business and benefiting the community.

Inspiring stories and the sharing of best practice can be seen in the monthly publication Think Enterprise and to make sure you stay up to date in the latest developments in enterprise skills development make sure you subscribe here

Unique Learner Numbers

Unique Learner Numbers (ULN) are important so that learners are able to use the Government provided Personal Learning Record, an online library of the learning and achievement records collected by UK education organisations.

And don’t forget that if you are accessing public funding from agencies such as the ERSF then they require you to provide a ULN at the time of registering a learner on the Registr8 system.

ULNs are generated by the centre and entered into the individual registration record on the Registr8 system.

If your organisation is not yet registered with the Learning Records Service or you are unsure of how to generate a ULN then see the Government’s website by clicking here.

Registration Process Update

Listening to feedback from our approved centre network you can now link a new learner’s registration record to a unit or qualification on the same page on the Registr8 system. This reduces the need to enter the learner’s details on one page and then link the unit or qualification on a second page.

When registering an existing learner on subsequent units or qualifications you will just need to access the qualification tab on the learner’s record and add the additional unit or qualification from the drop down menu.

Withdrawal of Learners

You may have recently undergone a monitoring activity with a member of the SFEDI Awards team and had learners selected as part of the sample that are no longer on programme.

If this is the case it means that the Live Learner records on the Registr8 system are out of date.

Please remember that if a learner is no longer working towards the programme you should withdraw them from their qualification on the Registr8 system.

This is really easy to do by simply accessing their individual qualification record and clicking the withdraw button next to the corresponding qualification.

And don’t worry, as long as the learner is still within the 2 year rule and returns to the programme at a later date you can notify a member of the Customer Service Team and they will be happy to reactivate their registration for you.

Qualification Update

Following requests from centres we have added an additional unit to the Level 2 Certificate in Creating and Starting Your Business.

This unit covers the impact of welfare benefits and tax credit systems for a business start up and has a reference number of T/615/7554.

The updated specification is now available on the SFEDI Awards website and can be accessed here.

This unit is available for delivery as part of the qualification or on a standalone basis immediately and those centres approved to deliver this qualification will find it in the optional unit section of the Registr8 system.

QCF Withdrawal

The time is fast approaching that the withdrawal of the QCF will be complete as of the 31st December 2017.

Please remember to update your hard copy materials and electronic media by this time to remove the term QCF.

If you are unsure of whether materials or electronic media needs updating please speak to a member of our team who will be happy to support you.

If you have any questions relating to any of the updates in this newsletter or would like to talk with a member of the SFEDI Awards team please contact us on 0845 224 5928 or customerservices@sfediawards.com and we’ll be happy to help.
