Dear Colleague,
Welcome to the latest e-newsletter from SFEDI Awards sharing the latest updates within the enterprise skills agenda. Within this weeks update you will find information about the Celebrating Enterprise event held at the House of Commons, a call for case studies and an update on our Business Support portfolio.
Last week saw the first SFEDI and IOEE Celebrating Enterprise event held at the House of Commons and all the team at SFEDI Awards were delighted that Results Consortium Ltd. were presented with the award for Enterprise Learning Provider.
Results Consortium has become an influential organisation in enterprise skills development, having grown from a small regional base to a business with national presence.
The number of customers it supports has increased by 488% in one year and they have achieved a 96% success rate in the number of people completing their enterprise development journey.
Nic Preston, CEO of SFEDI Awards pictured presenting Graham Cripps from Results Consortium with the award, had this to say:
‘It has been a pleasure working with Results Consortium seeing how they have been able to turn their passion and drive into action in order to build such a successful programme to support those wanting to both explore and go into the exciting world of enterprise.’
It was a great day for SFEDI Awards centres as The Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise (PRIME) were presented with the award for Enterprise Educator.
PRIME is the only national charity that helps people over the age of 50, who are unemployed or facing the threat of redundancy, set-up their own business. Its online resources, mentoring schemes, networking events and business training help people adapt their skills and experience to self-employment.
They have helped more than 24,000 people explore the possibility of self-employment, with more than 10,000 people accessing loans and training courses. A further 3,300 people have gone on to set up a business thanks to PRIME’s support.
The higest profile award at the event went to Toni Mascolo, co-founder of the Toni & Guy empire who picked up the IOEE Lifetime Achievement Award. Ruth Lowbridge, Executive Chair of the SFEDI Group, said:
‘We are especially delighted to present Toni Mascolo OBE with the IOEE Lifetime Achievement Award which recognises the importance he has placed over the years to ensuring people are equipped with the right enterprise skills to make a success of every Toni & Guy salon. His business model shows how investing in skills development can be the driving force behind a businesses’ continued growth and success’

SFEDI Awards is proud to be part of all the hard work carried out by our centre network in their continued support of both helping those who are looking to start and run their own business and also raising the profile of high quality enterprise education.
As a result of all of this hard work SFEDI Awards and our centre network have seen an increase of 352% in the number of learners who accessed enterprise learning programmes from 2011/12 to 2012/13 with a similar increase projected for 2013/14.
Throughout this time we have heard inspirational stories of those who have received support through their learning programme and gone on to successfully start and run their business.
We are always looking for stories from our centres to share the hardwork that you are carrying out and also share the experiences and successes of your customers.
If you would like to feature a good news story with SFEDI Awards then please contact our Customer Service Team who will be delighted to work with you. You can contact them by clicking

Since the election of the coalition Government in 2010 there have been a number of changes to the business support landscape across the UK.
Many more budding entrepreneurs now receive support from advisers, mentors, coaches and educators and we here at SFEDI Awards feel that there is a need to provide well structured support programmes to enable professionals to carry out these roles.
As a result of the recent Occupational Standards review, SFEDI Awards will be further developing our Business Support product range in order to ensure that our centres remain at the forefront of the business support agenda.
These new products will be developed over the next two months and will start to be released for use by our centre network as they become available.
Watch for further updates in the coming weeks which we will be publishing through our SFEDI Awards e-newsletters.
As always the SFEDI Awards Customer Service Team are there to help and support our centre network so if you have any questions please get in contact on [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]?subject=General%20Enquiry) and they will be more than happy to help.
Best wishes
Nic Preston
Chief Executive
