Shannen Scott (21) and Nicola England (19) (first and second from left joined by other members of the Apprentice team) are the first of a group of young people from Fife to complete the SFEDI Awards Level 3 Diploma in Enterprising Skills in a Business Environment as part of their unique Enterprise programme. On completion of her qualification Shannen has been appointed Chief Executive (designate) of Apprenticeships in Scotland, a leading social enterprise specialising in youth recruitment, while Nicola has successfully secured a new appointment as an office manager for an educational charity. The appointment makes Shannen one of the youngest Chief Executives in the country and strengthens the case for further programmes focussed on enterprise.

The programme is part of Fife Council’s ‘Culture of Enterprise Initiative’ which will support a further 20 learners in 2014.

Ronnie Davidson, Career Development Director at Career Studio, had this to say, “The diploma has been a terrific introduction to working life for the girls and their achievements are fantastic. The great thing about this qualification is that it supports young people in developing an emotional engagement with their work. Once you have developed a passion for what you are doing, the sky’s the limit. I would encourage all entrepreneurs to bring a young person into their business and work with them using the diploma to support success”.

If you are interested in finding out more about this qualification please see the SFEDI Awards website here (http://sfediawards.com/qualifications/level-3-diploma-in-enterprising-skills-in-a-business-environment/) .

Lloyds Banking Group and IOEE Meet a Mentor Events
To provide you and your customers with additional support opportunities, we will be publishing details relating to enterprise events as we become aware of them.

In this edition of our e-newsletter we are featuring the new Meet a Mentor events being jointly sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group and the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE).

These free events provide the opportunity for your customers to meet and network with volunteer enterprise mentors in order to support them in dealing with the day to day and longer term challenges of running a business.

But the events aren’t just for your customers, if you are interested in offering your time as a volunteer mentor then these events are for you as well.

Further event details are available to view on the SFEDI Awards website here (http://sfediawards.com/about-us/meet-a-mentor/) .

If you know of or would like to feature an enterprise event you are attending or running that can benefit entrepreneurs in the community, why not let us know and we will feature it through our e-newsletters for you.
Qualifications Extended
As a result of requests from our centre network we are pleased to announce an extension to the Level 2 Award and Certificate in Enterprise Skills and Employability until 31st July 2014.

Details of these qualifications can be seen on our website within the Enterprise Skills Development qualification section.
As always, we at SFEDI Awards are there to help and support you so if you have any questions about this e-newsletter or would like to talk about how you could further develop your centre offer or join our network of approved delivery centres then get in contact on [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) and we will be more than happy to help.

Best wishes
