The Sheffield College has been a SFEDI Awards centre for nearly two years and has enjoyed working with some great entrepreneurial students during this time.
The college continues to support students who are completing vocational courses and may be looking to start up in business once their course finishes. They have recently delivered the Level 1 Award in Understanding Business Opportunities and Risks and Level 1 Award in Understanding Business Planning as a pilot. The one day workshop gives the students an insight into becoming self employed and is ideal for students to become actively involved in practical enterprise learning.
The interest and appetite for these qualifications has been exceeded and the feedback from students has been exceptional. Some students have progressed to the Level 2 Certificate in Creating and Starting your Business since completing the Level 1 Understanding qualification. More than 50% of the last cohort of students have asked to progress exploring self employment and are looking to undertake the Level 2 Certificate in Creating and Starting your Business.
The following feedback was received from learners:
Bethany
“A great inspiring experience to help your future.”
Nicola
“Provided great insight into how to start a business.”
Kerry – early 30’s unemployed single mum
“A brilliant taste of business start up and an eye opener, and a realisation that there is a real importance alongside my Beauty Level 2 NVQ.
Kerry has now signed up to the Level 2 Certificate in Creating and Starting your Business. We wish both Kerry and all the entrepreneurs gaining support through our centres the best for the future in all their successes.
